⛏️ Miners, Construction & Wet Workers
How to treat nail fungus when your job keeps your feet wet for 8-12 hours a day
The Challenge
If you work in mining, construction, farming, fishing, or food service — anywhere you wear heavy boots or have wet feet all day — you face the most difficult conditions for curing nail fungus.
Damp, dark, warm environments inside boots for 8-12 hours create the ideal fungal incubator. The fungus grows faster than your nail can recover.
Adapting the Protocol
- Start with a clean slate — take a short break if possible. Even 1-2 weeks of dry feet gives the treatment a head start
- Apply immediately after your shift — as soon as you take off your boots, wash and dry your feet, then apply iodine
- Bring spare socks — change at lunch break if possible. Dry feet for even a few hours makes a difference
- Use two pairs of boots — rotate every day to let each pair dry completely (24+ hours)
- Boot drying is critical — use a boot dryer or stuff with newspaper overnight
💡 Key insight: For wet workers, the maintenance phase is especially important. Continue weekly iodine application indefinitely as long as you work in wet conditions. It's cheap prevention.
Extra Step: Treat Your Boots
Fungal spores can survive in boots for months. Each time you put on contaminated boots, you reintroduce the fungus:
- Spray the inside of boots with antifungal powder or diluted iodine weekly
- Never wear damp boots — dry them completely before the next use
- Replace insoles monthly during treatment
